I had the most wonderful thing said to me today. I wanted to share it with you, because it may be inspiring to you in some way. And no, this is not about products or services - just a little bright light in your day - I hope.
Here's what happened: "Alex," a health services professional, hired me for business coaching, and today was our third appointment.
In the first one, she was upset because her business wasn't making money, her book-keeper was ripping her off, and many other various complaints that added up to the fact that she was very unhappy with her work, her office, her staff, and how she felt about her life.
We did some tapping (using EFT) on various business issues, and suddenly several very potent factors about her relationship with her mother came out. We might wonder what her mom had to do with her biz, but a month later when she called me back for #2 appointment, she had had a major breakthrough. She had implemented some of my straight-out business suggestions, and added using EFT in a big way. The results were astounding - she got a new accountant/book-keeper, her patients doubled, and she did a session about her mother where she "milked her anger" and finally felt at peace.
The surprise benefit of that mom-tapping was that, suddenly, after years and years of terrible eating habits resulting in a body larger than she wants it to be, Alex spontaneously started eating three meals of good, healthy food a day. She said she hadn't done that since she was in her early teens. No more rebelling against mom by eating badly! She said she "just WANTED to eat "right" now."
Today when we talked, she had recently done a heath fair in which she had a booth showing people about her services and EFT. She told me it had been such a great breakthrough for her - she had almost talked herself out of going! - because she got to see that, contrary to how she had thought she was "stuck" in her one mode of health practice, there were other avenues of service/income that she really could do. She even attracted a new income stream in a line of products she really likes and is going to begin marketing.
This was big - Alex said she felt, for the first time since she had begun her practice, that she was free - free to move around, free to make more money, free to help people in a big, more expanded way.
She also realized that, instead of attracting people who were sick and broken so she could heal them or help them, she wanted her clients (not patients!) to be fun, smart, motivated, interested in life, excited about possibility, committed to moving forward, even funny.
"What's amazing," Alex mused, "is that, now that I'm feeling free and am happier, I'm more excited, myself, and expressing more, so I'm talking more to my patients and they're getting a better picture of what's possible for them."
We talked about how it's necessary to be happy first, not wait for her business to succeed so it would make her happy.
We discussed how she needed to create multiple income streams so she could go away for a month and not come back to an empty bank account, but instead have money coming in as she was away.
Alex had a bit of a niggling worry in her voice when she said her office renters were leaving, but I said, "Oh! That's great!" and I wondered aloud, since they were always late with rent and never really contributed to anything for the common good - what wonderful thing she would now create in those spaces. I suggested she do a semi-Hawaiian/Native American ceremony I use myself to clear and clean the spaces and re-create new energy and intention, and to write a new script for how she'd want the new tenant experience to go.
We also discussed how, instead of making a big thing of selling selling selling, it was more important to love her own life and talk about it in such terms that other people were automatically attracted to her vitality and happiness, and wanted some of that for themselves. And how she could - rather than push her ideas on them, which is what many marketers and sellers do - elicit what they needed and see how to help them fill those needs.
But the best thing ever today was this: Alex really got that, instead of thinking about her business in terms of "going out and begging for patients", asking for people to help her "make it", she really got the value of what she does - she said, "MY PATIENTS NEED ME! THEY NEED ME FOR WHAT I'VE GOT AND CAN GIVE THEM!"
It would be easy for us to say, "Well, duh!" But in business, when we come from, "I have something of value that can help others increase their quality of life," rather than, "I need to make a living," it's a tremendous shift of energy!
I look forward to seeing how she expands her business to include the new products and her counseling with EFT, and how her practice shifts - whether she winds it down, or expands it and includes it in a new, more vibrant environment where people can come and feel encouraged and empowered in their aspirations for healthier living.

I'll bet if you took an informal poll, people would look at you in amazement and say, well of course I value what you do! Of course you contribute to the community! Of course we all need what you have!
What would realizing that you are, in REAL FACT, valuable, do for you?
What if you used EFT on yourself every day for just a few minutes?
At the end of our session today, Alex told ME something that boosted my day a hundred-fold. We were talking about how, only a few weeks earlier, she was feeling so stuck and down and unsuccessful, and now she felt so great and that new possibilitIes felt so open to her.
"I couldn't have done it without you, Angela," she said, "I feel as if you opened my head and poured in diamonds!"
Yeow! Diamonds! I'm flying! I LOVE it! Thank you!
If I can go from a net worth of $7.03 in November of 2004, feeling terrified and of no worth to the world, to making what I do now and having someone saying that to me - why can't you? If you are as stubborn and determined as I think you are - because you wouldn't have kept on Searching for Something Better this long - you'd have given up already - then I know you can do it, too. You go!
