Most of us carry cell phones that have names and numbers stored in memory, but yet nobody, other than ourselves, knows which of these numbers belong to our near and dear ones, or the one to call in case of an emergency.
What if we are involved in an accident or have a heart attack, and the people attending us get hold of our cell or mobile phone—but don't know which number to call to inform our family members? How do they know which one is the contact person in case of an emergency?
A paramedic noticed that, when he went to accident scenes, most people had mobile phones with them, but he didn't know which number to call. He thought that it would be a good idea if there was a nationally recognized name for this purpose.
Since cell phones are carried by majority of the population, he figured that all you'd need to do is store the number of a contact person or person who should be contacted at during emergency as "ICE," standing for "In Case of Emergency". It is a simple memorable method of finding who to contact in emergency situations.
If you have your number(s) stored as ICE, ICE1 and so on, Emergency Service personnel and hospital staff would be able to quickly contact your chosen people by simply dialing the number stored as "ICE".
Please send this to people you care about. It won't take long before everybody will know about this. It really could save your life, or put a loved one's mind at rest.
This is a great idea that will make a difference! Let's spread the concept of ICE by storing an ICE number in our own mobile phones today! Please send to all your friends & nearest and dearests.
