A couple of months ago, a woman who runs a publishing company emailed me and asked if she could please use four of my mandala images for her new book on contemporary mandalas. How could I say no?!? For the last few nights I was up till 2 making her pdfs, refining and tweaking the images, writing a bio, working on getting the files ready and all the agreements and such that happen behind the scenes.
As I finally slid between the sheets, I went to sleep thinking how nuts I must be to constantly go go go until all hours. But hey, I live alone, and I waited for these solitary, rich hours - albeit very impatiently at times - for years as my kids grew up. What the heck else ought I be doing? Watching TV? I don't THINK so!
Where does your passion lie? What do YOU do that makes you feel like you must be obsessive, crazy, like you "ought" to be doing something else instead of ____.? What is it that your spirit craves - and you are holding back from it, that your being demands and you only let it have an inch at a time? Or maybe, like me, you get caught in the no-time of creation, of service, of inspiration, of - what? - and you want MORE.
So take it. Give it to yourself. Don't allow yourself to die, broken, exhausted and disappointed in yourself and what you didn't do when you could have.
If you go to the link below, you will get a gift from me to you - it's one of my favorite mandalas. Get some good quality paper, put new ink in your printer, print it out, and hang it in a place where it gets only indirect light (to keep it from fading). And enjoy it!
